This exceptional late 17th-century English side chair features bold bobbin turnings throughout—along the legs, stretchers, seat rail, and back—crafted in oak with a deeply aged, dark warm-toned finish. The seat consists of two oak boards, visibly joined, with age-related separation that does not affect its structure.
What makes this piece truly rare is its scale and condition. Narrower than most examples from the period, it’s visually striking and sculptural—whether styled solo or layered into a vignette. The untouched surface reveals centuries of wear and character, from softened edges to patina-rich grain.
Shown styled in our living room, it brings height and architectural detail to even the simplest corner.

Structurally sound with solid joinery. The surface shows visible wear consistent with age, including softened edges, minor scuffs, and patina-rich grain throughout. The oak seat boards exhibit a visible age-related split between the planks—stable and not compromising function. We’ve left the finish untouched to preserve its original condition and character.
