Some pieces just stop you in your tracks—this was one of them. I spotted it across the room while sourcing in The Cotswolds and was immediately drawn to its sculptural form, rich oak tones, and bold X-motif carvings. The repeated X detail felt like a quiet nod to Well x Design, and I knew it had to come home with me. Crafted in the 18th century from solid oak, this console table—originally a sideboard—features four paneled drawers with geometric carvings and brass pulls. The scale is substantial, lending presence and weight to an entryway, behind a sofa, or along a long hallway wall. The piece shows visible signs of age, including historical repairs, wear to the finish, and light that passes through one of the drawer seams. Still, it remains solid and stable—rich in patina and full of character that only centuries of use can impart.

Solid and stable with visible wear, surface markings, and age-related repairs consistent with its 18th-century origin. At least one drawer allows a bit of light to pass through—a charming quirk that reflects its age and handmade construction. The plank-style top shows subtle movement, and the piece may rock slightly if placed on an uneven floor—both common for furniture of this age and scale.
