An 18th century Italian mirror sourced in Florence, featuring a substantial carved wood frame with leaf and shell-like motifs and a repeating carved outer border.
The mirror retains its heavily foxed original antique plate, with extensive mottling and areas of silvering loss that give the surface its distinctive character.
The reverse retains three older metal hanging rings: one at the top and one to either side. These have not been used or tested. Due to the age and weight of the mirror, the existing hardware and method of installation should be evaluated by a qualified professional prior to hanging.

Italy, 18th Century. Sourced in Florence.
Condition
Antique condition consistent with age, with wonderful patina and natural wear throughout. The carved wood frame shows surface wear, small losses, nicks, abrasions, and areas of repair or variation, with scattered historic worm holes visible to the reverse. The original mirror plate has extensive foxing, mottling, oxidation, and silvering loss, including larger localized areas of loss, all clearly shown in the listing photographs. A newer wood backing panel has been fitted to the reverse. The reverse shows age-related wear and evidence of previous mounting or hanging. Three older metal hanging rings remain present but have not been tested or used by Well by Design. Professional evaluation of all hanging hardware is recommended prior to installation.
