This circa 1820 French Napoleonic mirror features a richly toned wood frame with decorative painted ornamentation and a heavily foxed original mirror plate. The contrast between the warm wood tones and aged reflective surface gives the piece remarkable depth and character.
Architectural yet understated, the mirror’s restrained proportions make it especially versatile — equally suited for layering atop a console, incorporated into a gallery wall, or used to bring warmth and texture to smaller spaces.
The original mirror plate retains dramatic age-related foxing, silver loss, and surface variation throughout, contributing to the moody, timeworn quality that defines the piece. Visible wear, historical separation, surface variation, and scattered chips and losses throughout the frame are all consistent with age and add to its collected character. The reverse retains old wood backing boards, and later hanging hardware has been added for stability and ease of installation.

Good antique condition consistent with age and use. Original mirror plate shows substantial foxing, silver loss, spotting, and surface variation throughout. Frame exhibits age-related wear, patina, historical separation, scattered chips and losses, and surface inconsistencies consistent with a 19th century piece. Later hanging hardware has been added to the reverse. Weighs approximately 8 lbs.
