Details
An antique oil on canvas depicting a Venetian canal scene with gondolas, boats, architecture, and reflections across the water. The painting is signed “R. Dabois” at lower right and retains its original gilt frame.
We especially love the muted blue-green water, warm ochre and gold tones, and softly timeworn palette throughout. The painting has been professionally re-secured within the original frame, with minor restoration/touch-up to a previously affected area of the painted surface. The aged gilt frame and gently worn canvas lend the piece much of its character.
Origin
Artist and origin unknown. Venetian subject.
Condition
Antique condition consistent with age. The canvas shows surface wear, waviness, and a localized weak/thin area where light may pass through slightly. Minor restoration/touch-up is present, including to a small, previously affected area of the painted surface. The original gilt frame shows age-related wear, losses, chips, and some separation at the corners. The painting and frame have been professionally re-secured. Hanging hardware is included.
