This atmospheric canal scene by Dutch artist Hendrik Ten Hoven (1901–1978) depicts boats, historic architecture, and bridges along a European waterway. Warm tonal variation throughout the composition is paired with layered brushwork and soft architectural detail.
Signed lower right, the work is newly reframed in a burlwood-style frame selected to complement the warmth and depth of the painting. The earthy palette and architectural subject matter give the piece a timeless, collected quality.
