This early 19th-century Spanish walnut armchair features a restrained architectural form with subtle carved detailing throughout, including shaped arm supports and a hand-carved lower apron. The chair has been professionally reupholstered in an antique French cotton textile dating to approximately the late 19th century, selected for its earthy tonal palette and large-scale botanical motif. The upholstery was completed in a manner intended to honor the chair’s original leather sling-seat construction, with the original decorative nailheads carefully removed and reused throughout.
The walnut frame retains a richly aged surface with visible wear, variation, and historic worming consistent with the chair’s age and use. Together, the timeworn wood and antique textile create a layered, collected character equally suited to traditional and more modern interiors.
While structurally sound and suitable for regular seating, the proportions and construction are best suited for occasional or accent chair use rather than everyday lounging.

Good antique condition consistent with age and use. Newly reupholstered in an antique French cotton textile using the chair’s original nailheads. Walnut frame exhibits extensive historic worming, age-related wear, surface variation, scattered losses, oxidation to nailheads, and irregularities consistent with age and hand construction. Wear throughout remains consistent with the chair’s age and historical use while preserving strong structural integrity and overall presentation.
